BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the party fully agrees in principle with the just demands of teachers across Bangladesh. He assured that if BNP is once again entrusted with the responsibility of governing the country through the people’s mandate, it will form a high-level commission to ensure teachers’ financial security, job regularization, and overall welfare.
He made these remarks in a video message posted on Facebook at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Tarique Rahman said,
“In the teachers’ assembly, several speakers mentioned the issue of nationalizing their jobs, while some others spoke about bringing more educational institutions under MPO facilities. Apart from this, there are a number of legitimate demands from non-government teachers. As a responsible political party, BNP fully agrees in principle with the teachers’ just demands.”
He further stated,
“During the times when BNP was in power, most of these demands were met — as reflected in the statements made at the gathering. We are fully aware of your concerns. No matter what reforms we undertake for the state or society, if we cannot ensure the modernization of the education system and the socioeconomic security and dignity of teachers, we cannot achieve the goals we aspire to.”
The BNP Acting Chairman concluded,
“If BNP is elected by the people to lead the nation again, we will, Insha’Allah, form a high-level commission to positively consider measures such as enhancing teachers’ financial security, job regularization, and nationalization, in line with the country’s capacity and priorities.”
