Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has instructed that the overall implementation and progress of the Farmers Card distribution program be made visible within April 14.
At the same time, he provided necessary guidelines to expedite the formulation of the ‘Farmers Card’ to ensure modern and integrated services for farmers.
The directives were given today (Tuesday) at a meeting with the Farmers Card formulation cell at his office in the Secretariat.
Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister, Atikur Rahman Ruman, confirmed the matter.
He stated that the meeting emphasized the creation of an integrated database for farmers. Discussions were also held on ensuring direct delivery of subsidies and incentives to farmers and simplifying agricultural services through digital systems.
He further mentioned that the proposed Farmers Card would help establish a clear identity for farmers across the country. It would also enable more transparent and efficient distribution of government support, including agricultural subsidies, loans, seeds, and fertilizers.
Additionally, the meeting discussed the use of modern technology for digital data storage and management of farmers' information.
The meeting was attended by Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock, and Food Minister Mohammad Aminur Rashid; State Minister Sultan Salahuddin Tuku; Adviser on Finance and Planning Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir; State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam; Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology Rehan Asif Asad; along with senior officials from the relevant ministries.
