The second meeting of the special committee formed by the National Parliament was held at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban under the chairmanship of Committee Chairman Zainul Abedin, MP.
The meeting, held on Sunday, was attended by committee members including Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, MP; Chief Whip Nurul Islam, MP; Law Minister Asaduzzaman, MP; Muhammad Osman Faruk, MP; A M Mahbub Uddin, MP; State Minister for Public Administration Abdul Bari, MP; Muhammad Naushad Jamir, MP; State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin, MP; Mujibur Rahman, MP; Rafiqul Islam Khan, MP; and G M Nazrul Islam, MP. Upon invitation of the special committee, Mohammad Nazibur Rahman, MP also attended the meeting.
The committee discussed several ordinances of the interim government, including: Anti-Corruption Commission (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Women and Children Repression Prevention (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Civil Aviation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; National Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Right to Information (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026; Supreme Court Judges Appointment Ordinance, 2025; Supreme Court Secretariat Ordinance, 2025 and its Amendment, 2026; Code of Criminal Procedure (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; National Human Rights Commission Ordinances (2024, 2025 and Amendment 2025); Referendum Ordinance, 2025; District Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024; Upazila Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024; Local Government (City Corporation and Municipality) Amendment Ordinances, 2024; Human Organ Transplant Ordinance, 2025; Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Second Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Revenue Policy and Management Ordinances, 2025 (including amendment); Customs (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Income Tax (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025; Bank Resolution Ordinance, 2025; and Public Procurement (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.
The committee decided to review the necessity and relevance of these ordinances and to present a report in the Parliament session at the earliest possible time.
The meeting was also attended by Secretary of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat Kaniz Mowla, Secretary of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, and secretaries and officials of various relevant ministries.
