The Honourable Prime Minister and BNP Chairman, Mr. Tarique Rahman, held a discussion with students of Dhaka Residential Model College who will represent Bangladesh at RoboSub 2026 in the United States.
The meeting was held on Tuesday afternoon, 7 July 2026, at the Prime Minister’s Office in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. During the discussion, the students presented their innovative project to the Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister learned about various aspects of the project in detail, encouraged the students to devote greater attention to research and science-based innovation, and congratulated them on representing Bangladesh at an international competition.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that initiatives based on science, technology, and innovation are among the key driving forces behind Bangladesh’s future progress. He said that the government is committed to providing necessary support and facilities to advance such creative initiatives.
Assuring his support for the students’ project, the Prime Minister urged them to continue their work with dedication, perseverance, and confidence. He also expressed hope that their success would further brighten Bangladesh’s image on the global stage.
Later, he presented copies of his book, “Bangladesh First,” to the students as gifts.
It may be noted that the RoboSub 2026 international competition will be held in California, United States, from 11 to 16 July. This student team from Dhaka Residential Model College will represent Bangladesh in the competition.
Before travelling abroad, the students met the Prime Minister to brief him on their innovative project and seek his valuable guidance. The Prime Minister himself is a proud alumnus of the institution.
The students said that they represent “Project Poseidon’s Code,” Bangladesh’s first underwater robotics initiative. The project was launched by Dhaka Residential Model College and is currently being operated with the support of the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at United International University (UIU).
