BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has officially launched the National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform.
The platform was inaugurated this morning at a special programme titled "Youth, Startups and a Promising Bangladesh" held at the University of Dhaka (DU).
Organised under the slogan "Build the Nation Through Startups, Bangladesh First," the event took place at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban.
The programme commenced with recitations from the Holy Qur'an, followed by readings from the Gita, Tripitaka, and Bible.
The event was organised to integrate the innovative ideas, creativity, and entrepreneurial potential of young people into the country's mainstream development agenda. It was jointly arranged by the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division of the Government, in collaboration with the University of Dhaka.
The event was attended by Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam and the Prime Minister's Adviser on Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, Rehan Asif Asad, as Special Guests.
The opening remarks were delivered by Acting Secretary of the ICT Division Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan, while the welcome address was given by Professor Dr. Md. Morshed Hasan Khan, Department of Marketing, University of Dhaka, and a member of the event management committee.
The programme began with a documentary highlighting Bangladesh's startup ecosystem, followed by a session titled "Not a Story, but Reality," where successful startup founders shared their entrepreneurial journeys.
Later, the Prime Minister engaged in an open discussion with students on startups and entrepreneurship. Grant cheques were also presented to six selected entrepreneurs, and the Prime Minister was honoured with a commemorative crest.
It was announced that the National Startup and Entrepreneurship Platform will serve as a digital launchpad for entrepreneurs, providing access to government support programmes, training, mentoring, investment opportunities, partner networks, and a wide range of essential services through a single integrated platform.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by University of Dhaka Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. A.B.M. Obaidul Islam.
The government considers empowering young people and women through entrepreneurship and innovation a national priority. In line with this vision, startup and entrepreneurship development has been identified as a key priority in the Government's 2026 Election Manifesto to drive economic growth, job creation, and technological transformation.
To support this objective, the government has already established a BDT 500 crore Startup Fund to finance and accelerate promising innovative ventures across the country.
