
The father of former Acting General Secretary of Jagannath University Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and former Vice President of the Central Committee of Chhatra Dal, Omar Faruk Kawsar — Alhaj Maulana Nurul Anwar — passed away today at noon while undergoing treatment at a hospital in the capital due to illness. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. At the time of his death, he was 90 years old. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed profound grief and sorrow at the death of Alhaj Maulana Nurul Anwar.
In a condolence message today, the BNP Secretary General said,
“At the passing of Alhaj Maulana Nurul Anwar, I share the deep grief felt by his bereaved family members. As an honest, noble, and pious person, he was well-known and respected among his neighbors. I pray—may the Almighty Lord grant him Jannah and give patience and strength to his grieving family.”

“I express my deepest grief and sorrow at the news of the passing of the revered Thirteenth Supreme Patriarch, Most Venerable Sangharaj Aggamahapandita Dr. Jnanasri Mahathero—the senior-most religious preceptor of the Buddhist community in Bangladesh and an eminent spiritual leader of this subcontinent.
On Thursday, 13 November 2025, at 4:20 PM, he passed away peacefully while receiving treatment at Evercare Hospital in Chattogram. At the time of his passing, he was 101 years old. With his demise, the nation has lost a great spiritual leader, social reformer, and religious thinker.
Aggamahapandita Dr. Jnanasri Mahathero was a noble soul dedicated to the welfare of humanity. Throughout his life, he made outstanding contributions to the propagation of the Dhamma, the practice of morality, the establishment of communal harmony, and humanitarian service. The orphanages, educational institutions, and religious centers he established continue to serve as beacons of enlightenment in society. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to education and social service, he was honored with the Ekushey Padak—an award befitting his illustrious life’s work.
His long spiritual journey, wisdom-enriched thoughts, and steadfast practice of the Dhamma will remain an exceptional example for the nation. The void created by his passing will not be easily filled.

Mrs. Hasna Begum, mother of BNP National Executive Committee member Ekramul Haque Biplob, passed away tonight due to old-age complications. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. She was 98 years old at the time of her death. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep sorrow and grief at her passing.
