Statement of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)
Expression of gratitude from Mr. Tarique Rahman and the Zia family to the people of Bangladesh for praying for the recovery of Begum Khaleda Zia

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia remains critically ill and is currently under intensive care at the hospital. People from all walks of life, irrespective of political affiliation, have continued to pray sincerely for her recovery. The Honorable Chief Adviser has also expressed his commitment to ensuring all possible medical support, along with offering prayers for her recovery.

Medical teams at home and abroad, as always, are providing the highest level of professional care with utmost sincerity. Several friendly nations have also expressed their willingness to extend every possible cooperation, including advanced medical support.

In response to the heartfelt prayers and affection shown towards the highly respected Begum Khaleda Zia, Mr. Tarique Rahman, Acting Chairman of the BNP, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, and the entire Zia family convey their sincere thanks and profound gratitude to everyone. The Zia family earnestly requests that people continue praying for her swift recovery.

Although Mr. Tarique Rahman is not physically present beside his affectionate mother, his heart remains with her every moment. He is closely involved with every update regarding her condition and is directly engaged in each decision taken by the medical board.

In such a critical moment, the longing to receive a mother’s loving touch is as intense for him as it would be for any child. However, unlike others, he does not have the unrestricted ability to make independent decisions about fulfilling that desire. The sensitivity of the matter also limits any detailed explanation. The family remains hopeful that once the prevailing political realities reach a positive stage, his long and anxious wait to return home will come to an end.
