Janazah Programme of Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia

The “Mother of Democracy,” the symbol of courage and struggle, a leader firmly committed to safeguarding independence and sovereignty, the undisputed champion of repeatedly restoring lost democracy, and an uncompromising legendary leader in protecting citizens’ rights, freedom of speech, and personal liberty — Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia — passed away today at 6:00 a.m. at Evercare Hospital in the capital.

The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expresses its deepest sorrow and grief at this painful loss. We respectfully request the people of the country, leaders and activists at all levels of the party, leaders of various political parties, and professional organizations to pray to Almighty Allah for the forgiveness (maghfirah) of the departed soul of our national leader.

Janazah Programme:

The Janazah (funeral prayer) of the late Deshnetri Begum Khaleda Zia will be held tomorrow, Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. Following the Janazah, she will be laid to rest beside the grave of former President and Shaheed Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam.

The BNP respectfully requests the residents of Dhaka, as well as leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated and associate organizations at all levels, to participate in the Janazah and pay their final respects.
