On the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of the great Proclaimer of Independence, pioneer of multi-party democracy, and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam, a joint meeting was held today, Monday, 18 May 2026, at 11:00 am at the central office of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in Naya Paltan.
The meeting was chaired by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. Joint Secretaries General, conveners and member secretaries of Dhaka North and South BNP, as well as central presidents/conveners/general secretaries/member secretaries of affiliated and associate organizations were present at the meeting.
The following programs were unanimously adopted at the joint meeting on the occasion of the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam:
Programs for the 45th Martyrdom Anniversary:
(8-day program from 25 May 2026 to 01 June 2026)
1. An 8-day program has been adopted from 25 May to 01 June 2026 marking the martyrdom anniversary of the great Proclaimer of Independence, pioneer of multi-party democracy, architect of modern Bangladesh, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.
2. Publication of posters and wearing of black badges on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary.
3. Publication of special supplements in newspapers and online media on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary.
4. Discussion meetings and poster publication by affiliated and associate organizations on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary.
5. A discussion meeting organized by the BNP will be held on Sunday, 31 May 2026, at 2:00 pm at the auditorium of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in Ramna, Dhaka.
6. On Saturday, 30 May, the following programs will be observed on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary:
(a) At 6:00 am, the party flag will be kept at half-mast and black flags will be hoisted at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan.
(b) At 11:00 am on the same day, under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, BNP national leaders along with leaders and activists from all levels will place floral wreaths and visit the grave of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Bir Uttam. After the grave visit, they will participate in a doa mahfil at the grave premises organized by the Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal.
(c) On the occasion of the day, clothing, rice, lentils, and other food items will be distributed among the underprivileged in every police station area under Dhaka North and South.
Across the Country:
Similarly, under the initiative of the BNP, all district, metropolitan, and unit offices across the country, including subordinate units, will observe the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman by keeping party flags at half-mast and hoisting black flags at 6:00 am on 30 May. According to local convenience, discussion meetings, doa mahfils, and distribution of clothes, rice, lentils, and food items among the underprivileged will also be organized.
