World Accreditation Day reminds us each year of the importance of safety, quality, and trust in the products and services we use in our daily lives. The International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) observe 9 June annually as World Accreditation Day.
This year’s theme, “Innovation, Trust and Sustainability: The Power of Accreditation,” is both highly significant and timely. In today’s world, innovation, trust, and sustainable development are closely interconnected and form the foundation of economic progress. In this context, the initiative taken by the Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB), under the Ministry of Industries, to observe World Accreditation Day 2026 is both relevant and commendable.
Consumers today are more aware than ever before. They not only consider the quality of products but also evaluate production ethics, social responsibility, and environmental impact. Therefore, to remain competitive in the global market, it is essential for us to adopt innovative and sustainable production practices.
Accreditation is an internationally recognized system of quality assurance that verifies the standards of products and services based on established criteria. It is not merely a certificate or recognition; rather, it is a powerful tool that helps sustain the competitiveness of a country’s industrial sector in the global arena. Through accreditation, the Bangladesh Accreditation Board is enhancing the credibility and acceptability of Bangladeshi products and services in the international market. So far, BAB has accredited 168 public, private, and multinational organizations in the country. Currently, its activities are being conducted through five sector-based schemes in line with international standards.
I hope that World Accreditation Day 2026 will further strengthen the country’s quality infrastructure and accelerate the journey towards innovation and sustainable development.
I wish the overall success of World Accreditation Day 2026.
