BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's Condolence Message
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed profound sorrow at the passing of Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar—a Language Movement veteran of 1952, member of the BNP National Standing Committee, former Acting President, former Speaker, former Minister, multiple-term Member of Parliament, distinguished statesman, and eminent jurist—who passed away at 4:18 a.m. on Sunday while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Shyamoli (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilayhi Raji'un).
In a condolence message issued today, the BNP Secretary General said:
"With his passing, the nation has lost a distinguished and experienced statesman. A profound void has been created in the country's political arena. Throughout his illustrious political career, the late Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar remained steadfast in the struggle for democratic rights, beginning with the Language Movement of 1952. For this lifelong dedication, he will be remembered with deep respect by the people of Bangladesh.
Having been elected to Parliament on multiple occasions, he brought a unique dimension to parliamentary politics through his experience and statesmanship. During his tenure in various important government positions, his pioneering contributions to national development will never be forgotten.
Throughout his political life, he served alongside Sher-e-Bangla A.K. Fazlul Huq, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and Mr. Tarique Rahman. His contributions to the state and society in collaboration with these leaders remain undeniable. He was, indeed, a living history of contemporary politics. His passing has cast a deep shadow of grief across the nation.
I pray for the eternal peace and forgiveness of his departed soul and extend my deepest condolences to his bereaved family members, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers."
