1. Condolence Message on the Passing of Begum Shamsun Nahar

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep sorrow at the passing of Begum Shamsun Nahar, mother of Machudur Rahman Babar, Vice President of Hatia Upazila BNP under Noakhali District.

Begum Shamsun Nahar passed away while undergoing treatment due to old age. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un. She was 82 years old.

In a condolence message issued today, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said:

“Like her family members, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Begum Shamsun Nahar. She was widely respected in her community as a devout and charitable woman. I pray that Almighty Allah grants her eternal peace in Jannah and blesses her bereaved family with patience and strength during this difficult time.”

He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended his heartfelt condolences to her bereaved family members, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers.

Meanwhile, Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, Organizing Secretary (Chattogram Division) of the BNP National Executive Committee, also expressed profound grief in a separate statement. He described the late Begum Shamsun Nahar as a pious woman, prayed for the forgiveness of her soul, and conveyed sincere condolences to her family members, admirers, and well-wishers.


2. Condolence Message on the Passing of Freedom Fighter Shahadat Hossain

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Freedom Fighter Shahadat Hossain, a veteran of the 1971 Liberation War, former police officer, and former bodyguard to the late President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam).

Shahadat Hossain passed away at his residence at around 10:00 p.m. last night. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un. He was 77 years old.

In his condolence message, the BNP Secretary General stated:

“He served as a loyal bodyguard to former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam). His courageous role during the 1971 War of Independence will always be remembered by the nation. I am deeply saddened by his passing. I pray that Almighty Allah grants him a place in Jannah and gives his bereaved family the strength to endure this irreparable loss.”

He also prayed for the forgiveness of the departed soul and conveyed his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers.


3. Condemnation and Condolence Over the Murder of Zahidul Alam Jahangir

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has strongly condemned the brutal killing of Zahidul Alam Jahangir, President of Mithamoin Upazila BNP in Kishoreganj, who was hacked to death by unidentified assailants at around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 15 July 2026.

Expressing profound concern, grief, and condemnation, he stated:

“Although the authoritarian Awami regime has fallen, the violence and bloodshed perpetrated by its followers have not ceased. The brutal murder of Mithamoin Upazila BNP President Zahidul Alam Jahangir is another example of that continuing pattern. Their efforts to eliminate the nationalist democratic forces remain ongoing. However, killings and acts of violence will never restore the era of plunder and repression.

The late Zahidul Alam Jahangir firmly believed in the ideals of former President Shaheed Ziaur Rahman (Bir Uttam) and the philosophy of Bangladeshi nationalism. He was wholeheartedly committed to building Mithamoin Upazila BNP into a strong, dynamic, and well-organized unit. He remained steadfast in his loyalty to Begum Khaleda Zia and Mr. Tarique Rahman and actively participated in every democratic movement under their leadership. I pray that Almighty Allah grants him Jannah and gives strength and patience to his bereaved family.”

The BNP Secretary General prayed for the eternal peace of the deceased and extended heartfelt condolences to his family members, relatives, admirers, and well-wishers.

He also demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the murder of Zahidul Alam Jahangir and called for exemplary punishment in accordance with the law.
