The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Friday formed a new cell named ‘Amra BNP Paribar’ (We are BNP family)to stand beside party leaders and activists and their families who were missing, murdered, and crippled in the movement to restore democracy.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came up with the information in a press release on Friday.

The release also said that BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman would be the patron of the cell, while Rizvi would be its chief adviser.

The party treasurer, Rashiduzzaman Millat, and publicity secretary, Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, have been made advisers to the new cell.

Apart from this, Atiqur Rahman Rumon, a member of BNP’s media cell, has been made the convener of the cell, and Mokshedul Momin has been made the member secretary of the nine-member convening committee.

The committee’s other members are Nazmul Hasan, Masud Rana Liton, Mustaqeem Billah, Farhad Ali Sajib, Shakil Ahmed, Rubel Amin, and Shahadat Hossain.

BNP previously launched the ‘Jatiyatabadi Help Cell’ which has been working for the past few years to look after the families of murdered, missing, and ‘persecuted’ leaders and activists of the party.

Such BNP leaders and family members were given financial support every year, especially during Eid festivals.
