Statement of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi

BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi strongly condemned and protested the arrest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir from his home in Gulshan.

In a statement today, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, “The government has become desperate to retain power. The entire nation has risen against of the midnight government. Seeing the presence of lakhs of people in BNP's grand-rally, the illegal government does not feel safe even though they attack BNP's grand rally, shoot and kill the leaders and activists. Therefore, one of the top leaders of BNP and the leader of the democratic movement, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was taken away from his house by law enforcement forces in this morning. Mirza Fakhrul Islam is 75 years old and seriously ill. Expressing deep concern over the arrest of a leader like him. BNP leaders are being arrested to scare the people. But the people of the country are united today under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. By arresting and oppressing, killing leaders and workers, power cannot be retained anymore. I want to say clearly that the law enforcement forces and Awami terrorists have attacked, shot, killed and even vandalized BNP's mass meeting yesterday. They have to take responsibility for it.

I strongly condemn and protest the arrest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and demand his immediate release.”
