Prime Minister Mr Tarique Rahman today informed the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) that the government has taken an initiative to launch the ‘e-Health Card’ programme on a pilot basis in five districts within 180 days of the formation of the government.
“Under the 180-day programme, an initiative has been taken to provide ‘e-Health Cards’ to the people. A project is awaiting approval in this regard. Through this project, e-Health Card services will be launched within 180 days for the people of five districts-Khulna, Noakhali, Bogura, Sirajganj and Narsingdi,” he said.
The Leader of the House said this while replying to a starred question from treasury bench lawmaker Md Shamsur Rahman Simul Biswas for Pabna-5 constituency in the House with Speaker Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, in the chair.
He said that this e-Health Card will be connected with the Electronic Referral System and the Electronic Patient Management System.
Highlighting the priority based works his government has done in line with the 180-day programme as per the election commitments, Tarique Rahman, also the ruling BNP chairman, said under a pilot phase of the Family Card programme for women heads of households, Family Cards have so far been distributed to 60,044 families across 36 units.
Besides, under the pre-pilot phase of the Farmer Card programme, 20,748 farmers have been given the cards in 11 agricultural blocks of 11 upazilas across 10 districts in 8 divisions, he added.
In addition, the government has waived agricultural loans of up to Taka 10,000 in the crop, livestock and fisheries sectors as part of implementing its election pledges, the premier said.
The government is also giving monthly honorariums to religious leaders serving at 4,908 mosques, 990 temples, 144 Buddhist monasteries-pagodas, and 396 churches, he said, adding, there are plans to gradually extend this benefit to all religious places of worship.
Tarique Rahman said the Ministry of Water Resources, Local Government Division, Ministry of Agriculture, and Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief are carrying out excavation and re-excavation works on 666 canals, with a total length of 965.04 kilometres.
As part of the afforestation programme aimed at planting 25 crore trees and creating green employment, he said, approximately 3.14 crore saplings will be planted during the upcoming monsoon season.
The premier said the government has plans to distribute free school uniforms to 200,000 children in government primary schools during the next fiscal year. The government will also gradually implement the “One Teacher One Tab” programme in schools, he added.
He noted that the unsecured loan limit for language student visas has been increased from Taka 3 lakh to Taka 10 lakh. Loan disbursement for students going to Japan has also been simplified based on the Certificate of Eligibility, even before obtaining a visa, he said.
To achieve the target of generating 20 percent renewable electricity by 2030, a total of 35 megawatts of electricity has already been added to the national grid through the National Rooftop Solar Programme and net metering, the Prime Minister added.
Tarique Rahman said the Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched the “Notun Kuri Sports-2026” programme to hunt sporting talent among children aged between 12 and 14.
The initiative includes eight sports: football, cricket, kabaddi, athletics, badminton, chess, swimming and martial arts, he added.
