BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman has instructed the relevant administrative authorities and party leaders and activists to stand beside people affected by the ongoing heavy rainfall and floods across the country.
On Friday, 10 July 2026, the Prime Minister spent much of the day speaking with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs), Superintendents of Police (SPs), and Civil Surgeons of various flood-affected districts to assess the overall situation.
During the day, he also spoke with ministers, secretaries, and officials of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, as well as other relevant ministries. He provided necessary directives to ensure that rescue, relief, medical assistance, and rehabilitation activities are carried out in a more coordinated and effective manner.
The information was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Ruman.
According to Atikur Rahman Ruman, the Prime Minister assigned State Minister for Power and Energy Anindya Islam Amit to coordinate overall rescue, rehabilitation, and medical operations in the flood-affected districts. To address the evolving situation, the State Minister is scheduled to visit Chattogram on Saturday along with State Minister for Relief M. Iqbal Hossain and other concerned officials.
He further stated that officials informed the Prime Minister that floodwaters had started to recede in several areas. However, the overall situation continues to be closely monitored.
The Prime Minister instructed the authorities to pay special attention to women and children in the flood-affected areas, particularly pregnant women. He also directed law enforcement agencies to remain on maximum alert to prevent any criminal groups from taking advantage of the disaster by engaging in theft, robbery, or other unlawful activities.
In addition, he instructed the relevant authorities to ensure an adequate supply of food, safe drinking water, medical services, and other essential assistance for the affected people.
Meanwhile, ministers and Members of Parliament from the greater Chattogram region have been closely monitoring the situation in the flood-affected areas since the onset of the disaster and remain actively involved in relief and humanitarian assistance efforts.
