Honourable Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Mr. Tarique Rahman inaugurated DMC Day 2026 and the Tree Plantation Programme, organised to commemorate the 80th anniversary and 81st founding anniversary of Dhaka Medical College (DMC).
On Saturday, 11 July 2026, the Prime Minister personally drove from his residence in Gulshan to the Dhaka Medical College campus, arriving at 10:00 a.m. Accompanying him in the passenger seat was his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, an alumnus of Dhaka Medical College.
He formally inaugurated the programme at the Shaheed Milon Square of Dhaka Medical College by releasing doves and balloons as symbols of peace.
During the event, a presentation was made before the Prime Minister on the construction of two women's dormitories at Dhaka Medical College under a project to build 19 modern hostel buildings for students of 10 medical colleges. He was briefed in detail on the various aspects of the project.
The Prime Minister later planted a commemorative tree on the campus.
He also participated in a special discussion titled “DMCians' Vision for the Modernisation of Bangladesh's Healthcare System,” organised as part of the DMC Day 2026 celebrations.
